The Only Mortal in Heaven — Episode 6: Marked by Him

Episode 6 climbs above the clouds, to a pavilion ringed with blossoming trees, and Angel finally answers him. Yes, she does it too. Angels trade mana so nobody starves. It's a duty, and she's not supposed to enjoy it. Then she holds his gaze: "But with you, I'd want to try it for real." William wants it too.

Her kiss is sweeter than he pictured, and soon the white lace and the shyness are both gone. The upright frame stays close on her as she ends up glowing, literally, golden marks swirling over her skin. Too much mana, she guesses, the same way Asmodea earned her wings. Is she okay? "Yes. That was incredible." Hand in hand they head back and walk right into a golden-crowned archangel, with Angel's fresh marks impossible to hide.
