The Only Mortal in Heaven — Episode 9: Alive and Wanted

Angel wavers, then gives in: "If this is what it takes." The finale of The Only Mortal in Heaven fills every inch of the upright screen. Asmodea has always wondered how an angel tastes, and she pulls Angel in before both of them turn to William. Red fire and blue light swirl across his chest as the rite finally catches. This really is paradise, an angel kissing him and not stopping.

Then the light fades, and Episode 9 cuts to something ordinary and stunning: William waking in his own room, his own bed, sunlight through his own window. Asleep on either side of him are two familiar faces. No wings. No horns. One gave up heaven, the other gave up hell. Two women built to live forever chose a mortal life beside him, and the final close-up lets you feel every bit of it.
